We are living through extraordinary times. Having had to close our doors on 16 March owing to the restrictions in place because of the Coronavirus pandemic, we are now taking the unprecedented step of extending the period of suspended performances on the mainstage at Oxford Playhouse and at the Burton Taylor Studio until Monday 8 June 2020. It’s a terrible blow to the Playhouse, but the right thing to do. The wellbeing and safety of our audiences, our artists and our staff will always come first.
If you have tickets for any of our performances up until Monday 8 June 2020, you will have been sent an email from the Ticket Office. Please check your emails to ensure you have received this. Customers without an email address will be contacted by our Ticket Office soon. Please bear with us during these exceptional and difficult times.
In better news, we have already been able to reschedule some shows for later in the year or for next year. Again, we have emailed customers with details of these shows.
Our closure will obviously have a detrimental impact on the income of Oxford Playhouse. As a registered charity, we rely on Ticket Office sales for 80% of our income. Whilst we will offer refunds, we humbly ask those with tickets for events that are no longer going ahead, whether they would consider donating the price of their tickets to our Playhouse Plays On appeal. Your donation would make a real difference to the survival of Oxford Playhouse and the support we provide to all our artists and performers.
The Playhouse is determined to continue to play a leading role within our community, providing creative opportunities for all…to create, inspire and entertain. As such, we have launched Playhouse Plays On: The Creativity Continues – More details can be found here. The building may be closed, but the vision of the Playhouse continues.
We thank you for your understanding and continued support. We will be back!
