Next month, Oxford Playhouse hosts Anne-Marie Casey’s new stage adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s much-loved classic novel Little Women. To celebrate we're launching a fantastic competition for budding young reviewers!

Open to 12 to 18 year-olds who love sharing their thoughts, the competition gives one lucky writer the opportunity to review Little Women and see their piece on The Playhouse website!

To enter, simply send us a short review (max.150 words) of any book - whether you loved it or loathed it! The chosen reviewer will win two tickets to see Little Women on Tue 27 May 2025.

The production will play at Oxford Playhouse from Tuesday 27 to Saturday 31 May.

It will star Belinda Lang, best known for her roles in Sister Boniface Mysteries and 2point4 Children (Aunt March), Foyles War’s Honeysuckle Weeks (Marmee), Call the Midwife’sJack Ashton (Brooke and Bhaer) and, The Great’s Grace Molony (Jo).

Directed by Loveday Ingram, the company of Little Women is completed by Cillian Lenaghan (Laurie), Jade Kennedy (Meg), Catherine Chalk (Beth), and Imogen Elliott (Amy).

Alcott’s timeless tale, inspired by her own coming of age, follows the four March sisters as they navigate the challenges of the Civil War era and womanhood. This captivating rendition breathes new life into the stories of tomboy Jo, beautiful Meg, sensitive Beth, and spoilt Amy.

Still as relevant today, Little Women is a celebration of women proving that women can be heroes of their own story, can be bold, persistent, self-assured to stand strong in who they are, and what they desire for themselves in their present and future.

The recent success of the Greta Gerwig film and the nostalgia of the classic book, combined with a beautiful adaptation provides an exciting theatrical experience guaranteed to be a night (or afternoon!) filled with laughter, tears, and a heart-warming lifting of the spirits.

The creative team of Little Women is formed by Loveday Ingram (Director), Ruari Murchison (Designer), Mike Robertson (Lighting Designer), Mike Robertson (Composer), Mathew Bugg (Sound Designer), and Mike Ashcroft (Movement Director).
