Call out for: Stage Manager

Call out for: Stage Manager
posted 05 May 2021

We are looking for a Stage Manager to join a schools and rural tour of ThisEgg's ‘Me & My Bee’, produced by Oxford Playhouse.

As the only crew member ‘on the road’ with the small production team, the Stage Manager will be responsible for the hands on running of all technical and practical aspects of the production, while being supported throughout, by full time staff at Oxford Playhouse.  We will, therefore, require someone with a good general knowledge of technical theatre, as well as good organisational skills and practical ability.

The show is rooted in the climate crisis and the rehearsals and tour will be run in line with creating as environmentally sustainable a production possible. We are looking for someone to join us in our passion for and openness to making our industry a little bit greener. Staging Change will be helping us all to learn about what we can do!

As part of our commitment in this respect, as well as ensuring that we are taking all precautions possible against Covid-19, we are planning that the touring company will ‘bubble’ in shared accommodation provided in Oxfordshire and travel to each venue in an electric car.  For this reason, we need a Stage Manager who has a full UK Driving License.

We are also committed to promoting Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in our work, so would particularly encourage applicants from African and Caribbean Diaspora, Asian Diaspora, Latin American Diaspora, Middle Eastern Diaspora, of mixed heritage, queer, D/deaf, disabled and from working class backgrounds.

Fee: £500 per week (Total of 7 weeks).

Rehearsals: 2 weeks, 14th – 26th June

Run: 4 weeks, 28th June – 31st July 2021 touring in the Oxford Playhouse ‘Pop-up Tent’.

The performance will last approx. 50 minutes and run for two-three performances per day, four days a week.

Suitable for audiences aged 5+. This is a family show - for children AND adults.

Background to the show

Climate change is massive. Bees aren’t. Our fuzzy little friends need our help and so we’re launching a political party disguised as a party party disguised as a show. We invite you to save the world - one bee at a time. Join the Bee Party. Before it’s too late…
