University of Oxford Student Season: Michaelmas Term 2026

Presented by University of Oxford student company Likehearted Productions

By Yusuf Naeem

The inaugural production of Likehearted Productions, Next Customer, Please! is set within the familiar, nostalgic, and ever-present British corner shop.

Exploring the British South Asian diaspora’s experience, the play captures the multifaceted everyday life of shop-owner Uncle Iqbal, and his employee, Sohail. Through a rotation of colourful characters and poignant dialogue, Iqbal’s relationship with his identity as a father, neighbour, and boss is crafted and promptly disrupted.

Funny, intimate, and sharp, the production promises a fresh look at a familiar space and looks beyond the words “Next customer, please!”
