From the shadow of Hadrian’s Wall in the northeast of England, Kathryn Tickell & The Darkening reach out to the wider world, connecting threads of music, landscape, and people over almost 2000 years. Named after the old Northumbrian word for twilight, The Darkening includes Kathryn Tickell (Northumbrian smallpipes, fiddle, vocals), Amy Thatcher (accordion, clogs, synth, vocals), Kieran Szifris (octave mandolin), Joe Truswell (drums), and Josie Duncan (vocals, clarsach).
