Chakira Alin is a multi-hyphenate from East London throwing stuff at the wall hoping it sticks. Her debut play Heroes won the inaugural Mustapha Matura Award as well as the Marlowe Other Prize. As a result of her win, she was mentored for a year by playwright Roy Williams MBE. Heroes enjoyed successful runs at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2022, where it was chosen as a Pick of the Fringe, and London's VAULT Festival 2023.

She studied English at the University of Cambridge where she was a member of the prestigious Cambridge Footlights. She is an alumnus of the Royal Court Writers Group and a current member of the Side eYe Productions Writers Group.

She has had her work performed at the Southbank Centre, Royal Court and Theatre Peckham. Chakira recently set up her own production company Quite the Cowboy and is working on a slate of projects for both stage and screen. Her short script Sunny Side Up was recently longlisted for a British Short Film Award for Best Screenplay. Chakira is heading to the Edinburgh Fringe this summer with her new one woman show, House Party, a comedy about the housing crisis. Chakira’s writing tends to be comedic, irreverent and offbeat with a biting political core.

She is a triple Capricorn.
