Playhouse Youth Theatre is changing!

Our platform for young people aged 12 to 16 (Years 7 to 11) with a passion for making theatre and being part of a collaborative ensemble will embark on a new, exciting year-long project, co-creating their own original piece of theatre.

With co-creation at the heart of how our Youth Theatre works, participants will work closely as creatives alongside our Youth Theatre leaders Lucy Findlay and Caitlin Kirby, devising original material that explores a set question. Sessions and rehearsals will focus on building skills in performance, confidence in creativity and imagination, and a passion for working collaboratively on a fun project with new friends.

The project will culminate with a full-length production in our Burton Taylor Studio in July 2027, with additional sharings scheduled for the end of each stage of our work along the way, including: a variety Scratch Night at the end of Stage One, where we’ll share the beginnings of our ideas, and a first draft Research and Development sharing at the end of Stage Two, where our work begins to take more of a structure and meaning.

Sessions take place on Tuesday evenings, 5.00pm to 7.30pm, in our Top Room. Additional rehearsals may be scheduled closer to performance dates. All dates for sessions across the year can be found in the tab below. Attendance at all sessions is essential.

Useful Information

How much does it cost?

It costs £330 to take part across the year.

Participants can pay upfront, or in three instalments of £110 at the start of each new stage of the project. Our Box Office will be in touch to arrange for any subsequent instalments as the year progresses.

Bursary Placements: We understand that sometimes there are financial barriers that can limit a participant’s ability to access our workshops and activities, and so our Open House Bursary Placement scheme looks to support those who might not otherwise be able to attend.
