The Playhouse Adult Company, led by Emma Webb, welcomes anyone aged 26 and over with a passion for performance, and an excitement for joining a multi-generational company.

From September 2026 to July 2027, our Adult Company will embark on a year-long project. In our Autumn Term, participants will take part in a series of masterclasses, developing skills in voice, movement and characterisation. From the Spring Term, building on the skills explored in the previous term, the group will begin rehearsals for their end-of-year production. They’ll explore text, style and theatre craft, continuing through the Summer Term. In July 2027, the group will present their end-of-year production on the Main Stage to a public audience.

Sessions take place on Thursday evenings, 5.30pm to 8pm, in our Top Room. Additional rehearsals may be scheduled closer to the final performance. All dates for sessions across the year can be found in the tab below. Attendance at all sessions is essential.

Participants should expect to be part of a collaborative ensemble, where ideas are shared and championed. We aim to create a rehearsal space where you can be curious, creative and ambitious.

As our Playhouse Adult Company is a popular scheme with limited spaces, we are now asking people to apply for a space by submitting an application.

Useful Information

How do I apply?

We will be assembling our ensemble based on what we feel would best suit our upcoming planned production, and to ensure a wide range of experiences with theatre within the group.

Please apply by Fri 28 Aug 2026. All applicants will be informed of our decision, regardless of outcome.

What does it cost?

It costs £330 to take part across the year. Members can pay upfront, or in three termly instalments of £110, by arrangement with our Box Office.

A Welcome Pack and instructions for payment will be sent to successful applicants in September.

Bursaries available:

We understand that sometimes there are financial barriers that can limit a participant’s ability to access our workshops and activities. Our Open House Bursary Placement scheme looks to support those who might not otherwise be able to attend. Please indicate on your application form if you might need access to one of our Placements.
