Firmly established as an unmissable highlight in Oxford's cultural calender, Shakespeare’s Globe's Touring Ensemble returns to the glorious setting of the Bodleian Library with a trio of plays exploring the themes of refuge and displacement. Taking on multiple roles across all three plays, the cast will unravel these timeless tales of those who have crossed seas and lost their families, are seeking new homes, and finding out what belonging truly means to them.

The Comedy of Errors

Take one pair of estranged twin brothers and one pair of estranged twin servants – both pairs separated at sea. Add a dash of mistaken identity and throw them into a city with a reputation for sorcery, and you have all the ingredients for theatrical chaos...

Pericles

The spirit of fairy tale is never far from the surface of Pericles. Imbued with music, miracles, and the constant presence of the sea, this little-seen work sees Pericles, Prince of Tyre, forced to flee his own kingdom and wander the world.

Twelfth Night

When a shipwreck tears a family apart, twins Sebastian and Viola seek refuge in a new land. Filled with unforgettable characters, Twelfth Night combines cruelty with high comedy and the pangs of unrequited love with subtle poetry, expressed through some of Shakespeare’s most exquisite songs.

Oxford Playhouse weather policy

Applies to all Oxford Playhouse shows on the mainstage, the Burton Taylor Studio and offsite shows.

If you have booked for an event being sold through Tickets Oxford, then you need to contact the company holding the event directly for information on their weather policy.

Please note:

Productions will go ahead in all but the most extreme weather conditions (where it is deemed to be unsafe for the production to continue).

As weather conditions can change, and forecasts can be inaccurate, the decision to cancel a show will not be taken before the published start time of the show.

We ask that everyone comes prepared for all weather conditions.

Refunds will only be offered if a show is cancelled.

If you are unable to attend the show on the day of the performance due to weather, please contact us in advance to advise you.

If a show is not cancelled, but you have not been unable to attend/stay for the whole performance due to the weather, please contact us as soon as possible after the show. Subject to availability, we will try and transfer your tickets to another performance of the same show. If that is not possible, we may be able to offer you tickets for another upcoming show.

Performances of Shakespeare’s Globe on tour will only be cancelled as a last resort if the weather means it’s unsafe for the actors to perform. This decision will be taken as soon as possible, but often only 30 to 45 minutes before the start of the show as we’ll do everything possible to ensure the performance goes ahead.
