Returning this Spring!
Bringing people together in times of isolation
Fancy a Cuppa & a Chat?
Following on from last year’s successful project, OP is delighted to be working on a new Tea Talks project for 2021.
In partnership with AgeUK Oxfordshire, Oxford Playhouse is inviting local later-in-life (60+) residents to join a member of our team for a cup of tea and a chat over the phone.
We love connecting with people…if you are feeling alone and isolated during these strange times, or just fancy a chat, our friendly team are on hand to pick up the phone to talk to you. We’d like to listen to your life stories; hear about your greatest achievements; share your funniest jokes and you may like to hear ours too!
Our six weeks of weekly calls will begin after Easter. For those participants wanting to be part of the second phase, OP will be celebrating the stories we hear in a creative project later in the year. In Autumn 2020, we worked with ten of our original participants, to bring together a festive 30-minute Radio Play. The piece features wide-ranging stories, reflections, and contributions from those taking part. To listen to Tea Talks: A Christmas Special, please click on the 'Listen to the Radio Play' tab. Your stories could be part of this year’s creative project.
Tea Talks is a great way to make a new friend and find creative interests in a climate that can often feel isolating. If you or anyone you know is interested in taking part, please email firstname.lastname@example.org

Tea Talks was launched in the Summer of 2020 as a befriending phone scheme to encourage storytelling and creativity for ages 60+ in partnership with Age UK. The mean age of our original participants was 82. As a second phase of the project, 10 of our later-in-life participants shared their stories and memories to to created this moving this radio play, which was recorded remotely. We hope you enjoy it.
