Each half term Oxford Playhouse runs workshops for children aged 8 to 11 years on a theme that links to the current or a recent main stage show. Participants enjoy exploring different theatre disciplines; musical theatre, physical theatre, storytelling, puppetry and much much more, while learning how to create and stage their own performances for family and friends at the end of their workshop.
Every summer we invite children aged 8 to 11 years to join us for the week to create their version of an Oxford Playhouse production. Your children will devise their own script and incorporate song and dance to portray their story. When we are able to use the BT Studio for our play-in-a –week workshops the shows will make full use of the professional lighting equipment for their performance to family and friends at the end of the week.
Each summer we are proud to have Mark Curtis (Small Nose Theatre) deliver a week long Clowning course for young people aged 11 to 16 years. Participants will learn the fun and demanding art of Clown and Improvisation as they discover what being funny means, why it’s important to fail and what type of clown they are.
