We are sorry to announce that all performances at Oxford Playhouse, the Burton Taylor Studio and Blenheim Palace (Shakespeare’s Globe on Tour) are now suspended until 6 October 2020 due to the ongoing restrictions around live performances during the Covid-19 crisis.
Cancelling shows is always a difficult decision, but the wellbeing and safety of our audiences, our staff and our artists will always come first.
In better news, we have been able to reschedule the majority of performances for future dates, and all bookers will have been notified either by phone or email. If you have not heard from us, please check your junk folder or email the Ticket Office at email@example.com
This extended closure will obviously have a devastating impact on the income of Oxford Playhouse. While we welcome this week’s news of extra emergency funding for the Arts, we cannot rely on accessing that money for some time, or at all. The Playhouse Trust – a registered charity – relies on Ticket Office sales for 80% of our income. Whilst we will offer refunds, we humbly ask those who cannot make new performances dates to consider donating the price of their tickets to our Playhouse Plays On Appeal during these exceptional times. Your donation would make a real difference to the future of Oxford Playhouse.
Please note that during August 2020, in order to reduce costs and safeguard the future of Oxford Playhouse, we are temporarily reducing key operations. The Ticket Office will therefore close at 5pm on Friday 31 July and reopen at 10am on Tuesday 1 September. If you have any outstanding queries that haven’t been dealt with by 31 July, we ask that you wait to contact us about them until September 2020. The best way to contact the team then is by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Please be aware that during August, we also won’t be as active as we would normally be on our social media channels. Online sales remain available on our website www.oxfordplayhouse.com
We look forward to welcoming you back to Oxford Playhouse as soon as it is safe for us to do so. In the meantime, we have a full online creative programme Playhouse at Home available on our website.
I have a ticket query about a production in October 2020. Who should I contact?
During August 2020 we ask you to hang on to your query, and contact us at email@example.com as soon as the Ticket Office reopens on 1 September 2020. Thanks for your patience and understanding.
I want to book tickets for SIX in August 2021. Can I still do that?
Online booking for future shows is still available through our website www.oxfordplayhouse.com throughout August.
I have tickets for a show in September, but I haven’t heard from OP. What should I do?
All bookers up until 6 October 2020 have been contacted by email, or by phone if they don’t have an email address. If you haven’t received an email, please check your junk folder.
I have a query about my tickets. Will the Ticket Office be open at the theatre if I pop in?
Our theatre buildings are currently closed due to Covid-19. We do not have a date at the moment for reopening. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org before 31 July, or after 1 September regarding your ticket query.
I have sent a message with a question via Facebook but haven’t heard back?
During the month of August, only a small team will be working at The Playhouse, so we will not be able to respond to messages on social media until we’re back in September. Thanks` for your patience.
I missed the 'A Theatre Near You' event. Can I still watch it?
We've made the full event available to view here. Rather than charging a fee to watch, we’re inviting voluntary donations to go towards the Playhouse Plays On appeal.
