Oxford Playhouse is delighted to announce it has bagged £2,000 from Tesco’s Bags of Help community grant scheme.
Bags of Help is run in partnership with environmental charity Groundwork, and sees grants raised from the sale of carrier bags awarded to thousands of local community projects every year. Since launching in 2015, it’s provided more than £56 million to over 16,000 local community projects.
What will the money be used for?
The money received from Teso's Bags of Help will go towards Oxford Playhouse and Oxford Playmaker's scheme, Primary Playmaker.
Prrimary Playmaker is designed to improve literacy, develop storytelling skills and encourage children's imaginations, Primary Playmaker is a unique opportunity for pupils to learn how to conceive and write their own short play and understand the development process which leads to a professional production. A selection of plays that have been written by pupils are then performed on the Oxford Playhouse main stage by professional actors as part of our Young Players' Festival - a celebration of work created and performed by young people.
A big thank you to everyone who voted Primary Playmaker, your continued support is very much appreciated!
