Tuesday 17th March 2020
Following Government advice issued on Monday 16th March in response to the COVID-19 epidemic, all performances at Oxford Playhouse and the Burton Taylor Studio have been cancelled until Saturday 2nd May 2020.
This is a very difficult decision to make but we find ourselves in an unprecedented situation in uncertain times. The wellbeing and safety of our audiences, our staff and our artists is of the utmost priority to us.
All community and participatory work during this period has also been postponed. We hope to reschedule some of this work for later on in the year.
If you have tickets for any of our performances between now and Saturday 2nd May 2020, you will hear from the Ticket Office soon. Please bear with us during these exceptional and difficult times. It would be helpful if bookers could please take a moment to log-in to their online accounts to check that their contact details are correct. We have been unable to contact some customers today owing to incorrect contact details listed on their accounts.
We ask that you do not contact the Ticket Office at the moment as our team is dealing with a large volume of outbound calls. We appreciate your patience and thank you in advance for your continued support. We will be in touch as soon as possible.
This closure will obviously have a detrimental impact on the income of Oxford Playhouse. As a registered charity, we rely on Ticket Office sales for 80% of our income. Whilst we will offer refunds, we humbly ask those with tickets for events that are no longer going ahead, whether they would consider donating the price of their tickets to Oxford Playhouse during these exceptional times. Your donation would make a real difference to the survival of Oxford Playhouse and the support we provide to all our artists and performers.
The Playhouse is determined to continue to play a leading role within our community, providing creative opportunities for all…to create, inspire and entertain. The building may be closed, but the vision of the Playhouse continues.
We thank you for your understanding and continued support. We will get through this!
