What's On

When the Long Trick's Over

By Morgan Lloyd Malcolm

Tickets from £10

A person is swimming in the sea.

I’m so scared. And yet…
I’m also looking… Just in case I see her…
Even though by now there wouldn’t be that much to see…

Two sisters. One dream. The hardest open-water swim in the world.

This triumphant play from Olivier award-winning Morgan Lloyd Malcolm moves forward(s) and backward(s) in time across the 21 miles between Dover and Calais as a young swimmer harnesses her mind and body to make the crossing.

With grief and joy, 90s pop-songs and lists, oil tankers and jelly babies, love persists whatever the distance, and however perilous the journey to the other side.

All performances at Oxford Playhouse are now being sold to full capacity seating, in line with government and UK Theatre guidance. We recognise that some audience members may still feel uncomfortable attending a show which is at full capacity. Where possible, Oxford Playhouse will work with visiting producers to accommodate a number of socially distanced performances.
