British Theatre Guide
In 1910, the then unknown Charlie Chaplin and Stan Laurel set sail from Liverpool to New York as part of Fred Karno’s famous music hall troupe. On the voyage, they shared a cabin, they shared comedy routines and they shared laughter...
Inspired by real life events, Told by an Idiot’s acclaimed production of Charlie and Stan is the remarkable story of the greatest double act that nearly was and is a hilarious and deeply moving homage to two men who changed the world of comedy forever.
Told by an Idiot has garnered critical acclaim and devoted audiences worldwide for its wonderfully theatrical shows.
We are so excited to be welcoming our audiences back to Oxford Playhouse. We want to reassure you that we have implemented all the necessary measures to ensure we are a COVID-19 secure venue and operate within the government guidelines.
All performances at Oxford Playhouse are now being sold to full capacity seating, in line with government and UK Theatre guidance. We recognise that some audience members may still feel uncomfortable attending a show which is at full capacity. Where possible, Oxford Playhouse will work with visiting producers to accommodate a number of socially distanced performances. The performance of Charlie and Stan on Thu 7 Oct 2.30pm will be socially distanced.
A sublime treat.
