Playhouse Playmaker is our Writers' Attachment Programme for playwrights at any stage of their career, led by award-winning playwright Clare Bayley.

Up to six writers are invited to be a part of this year-long free programme, which runs between October 2021 and July 2022.
From October until June, the group will meet one Saturday a month. The sessions will be delivered at Oxford Playhouse (or online, depending on circumstances) and consist of practical writing exercises, discussion and feedback on scripts.
In June 2022, the Playmakers have the opportunity to share an extract of their completed script as part of Offbeat Festival, rehearsed and performed by professional actors.
Our 2021/2022 Playmakers
Anna is a bilingual writer living in Bristol, who writing in English as well as in her native Polish language. Graduated MA scriptwriting course at Bath Spa University.
On the early stage of her playwriting career, she has many years of experience writing for TV production. Anna contributed to many TV shows popular in Poland including Fala Zbrodni, Zakręcone, Na Wspólnej, Plebania and Lombard. Życie pod zastaw. She published short stories, poems, essays and book reviews for literary magazines in Poland.
Anna writes about the depth of human relationships with each other and own self, our values and priorities. Through writing she is exploring cultural, social and gender identities as well as our spiritual condition and relation with nature.
Anna has been working for homeless and women’s charities in Bristol, but she was also beekeeping and goat-shepherding, worked on building sites, did night shifts on maternity ward, and was driving a van of a mobile covid19 test centre.
Liz is a writer, dramaturg and producer from London. For Stage, she wrote her debut play ‘BONHOMIE’ as part of Soho Theatre’s Writers Lab, which was shortlisted for the Tony Craze Award in 2020. For screen, she has been invited to join the BBC Writersroom London Voices 2021 cohort. For Audio, she was shortlisted for Soho Theatre/NBCUniversal International Studios Overheard podcast drama competition.
As a producer, she was awarded the Stage One Producer bursary in 2018 and has most recently worked at Young Vic Theatre and Barbican Centre.
In 2020, Liz was selected for The Network at Edinburgh TV Festival – a development scheme for new entrants in TV. In 2021, she was awarded a MGCFutures bursary to take up a new role as Literary Associate at Lyric Hammersmith Theatre.
Carla is a playwright based in London. She was commissioned for Audible's Emerging Playwrights Fund to write an original audio play, Life Ever After, which was recorded in New York. She was selected to write for the Promised Lands Playwriting Festival in Milan. She won the Nick Darke Award.
Her plays have been performed at the Vaults Festival and Theatre503. Her work has also been performed in Italy and South Africa.
Carla has been shortlisted for Arch 468’s Hope Playwriting Prize and the Yale Drama Series; and longlisted for the Verity Bargate Award, Bruntwood Prize, Papatango Prize and Kudos/Royal Court Fellowship. She was a reader Theatre503 for three years, reading for the Playwriting Award and general play submissions.
Gayathiri is a Tamil playwright, collage artist and sex & relationships educator. Their work focuses on the shapeability/queering of the future and aims to dismantle the idea of a ‘universally correct culture.’ Gayathiri is interested in stories that center gender nonconforming folks of colour that ask: how might we practice and embody freedom?
Gayathiri is an alumnus of Soho Theatre's Writers' Lab, a recipient of a seed-commission by 45North and is working with ThisEgg on The Family Sex Show. With DYCP they are currently exploring decolonial theatremaking practices and are an artist in Kolaj Institute's 'Politics in Collage' residency.
As a facilitator, Gayathiri delivers arts-based workshops with School of Sexuality Education, Decolonising Contraception and Inclusive Tamil Arts.
Rhianna is a playwright, facilitator and game-maker from London. She is Associate Director at Coney, a charity making all kinds of play - theatre, games, adventures - to spark change. Rhianna has designed several games such as ‘HOME/CARE', a digital piece about social care made in collaboration with the Bureau of Investigative Journalism.
Rhianna is an alumna of the Royal Court Writers Programme 2021 and a graduate from Goldsmiths' MA in Writing for Performance and Dramaturgy. Her debut play, inspired by Ghana’s Year of Return, is being developed with support of the Omnibus Theatre's Engine Room scheme.
Outside of writing, Rhianna is an activist-facilitator for The Advocacy Academy, the Good Night Out Campaign, and the co-host of the online channel ‘A History of Everyone Else’.
Tom is a writer and fundraiser. Their critically-acclaimed show "Can You See Into a Black Hole?" about growing up with epilepsy ran outdoors in Covent Garden in the summer of 2021 and will soon be released as an audio adaptation. They are also developing "Self-care (for the hyperactive anti-capitalist) or, how to start a revolution" for CRIPTic at The Barbican and their new show "Education, Education, Karaoke" will open at Camden People's Theatre in November 2021.
Tom is also the Head of Development for Stockroom and a trustee of the disabled arts commissioning organisation Unlimited.
