untried…untested

APPLICATION PACK

Oxford Playhouse is looking for local performers to participate in its second scratch night at the Burton Taylor Studio. Scratch shows are a chance to try out material in front of an audience, and get feedback to help shape its development.

untried…untested is scheduled for Wednesday 13th April 2011.

Pieces should be unfinished, and shown as excerpts that last between 10 and 20 minutes. Performers should be willing and open to hearing feedback. After the performances, there will be a facilitated feedback session between audience and artists over a drink.

All areas of performance are welcome, including, but not limited to, theatre, live art, music, poetry and comedy.

Submission deadline: Thursday 17th March at 5pm.

Please use the form below to submit your work to untried…untested. We cannot accept accompanying material in the post. The form asks for links to company websites and further footage and images of the work being developed if available. We are aware that some companies will not have their own websites, but accompanying images and footage will help us in understanding your piece and its suitability for this application, but are not essential.

untried…untested has been set up to encourage and support local artists in producing and developing work. For this reason we are only able to accept applications from local artists at this time.

The Work

untried…untested is a showcase for work-in-development. The pieces must have the potential for development and a future beyond showing at our scratch night. We do not want to limit the kinds of work we can show, and will accept applications from all areas of performance.

The Venue

The scratch night will take place in The Burton Taylor Studio. This is our 50 seat black box studio theatre located just around the corner from Oxford Playhouse. The space is flexible and can be configured either end-on, in the round or in traverse. We will need to settle with one configuration on the night of untried…untested, but please state your preference below.
