Our most popular workshop scheme for Primary Schools, delivered in partnership with Oxford Playmaker.
An in-school series of workshops for KS2, Primary Playmaker is designed to improve literacy, develop storytelling skills and encourage children's imaginations. This is a unique opportunity for pupils to learn how to conceive and write their own short play and understand the development process which leads to a professional production.
Each school is offered up to 10 workshops, led by award-winning playwright Renata Allen. The 90-minute practical and written workshops can be tailored to fit your timetable and support your curriculum teaching.
A selection of plays that have been written by pupils will be performed on the Oxford Playhouse main stage by professional actors as part of our Young Players' Festival - a celebration of work created and performed by young people - in March 2018.
“The interaction between the pupils exceeded expectation and the improvement in the children's self-confidence is evident. Their enthusiasm for the project is obvious."
St John Fisher Catholic Primary School
"The children thoroughly enjoyed the workshops, were engaged throughout and were so excited about the performances. It really was very special to see their imagination and creativity transformed from page to stage."
