Fun Palace

Fun Palace

Everyone an Artist, Everyone a Scientist

Fun Palaces is both an ongoing campaign for culture at the heart of every community, and an annual weekend of action – arts, science, craft, tech, digital and sports events and activities – run by and for local communities. Fun Palaces weekend is the first weekend of October every year. Our next Fun Palace event will take place on Saturday 6th October 2018.

Oxford Fun Palace 2018 - 'Intrepid Explorers'

This year's Intrepid Explorers will delve into the many realms of exploration, in partnership with The Curiosity Box, Oxford Festival of the Arts, and children's author Julia Golding.

Jet off into outer space with Oxford Playhouse, and create your very own rocket ship! Be confused and confuddled with The Curiosity Box's concoction of optical illusions, where you can learn to make your very own galaxy in a test tube. Join Julia Golding on a Curious Science Quest with book signings and home-made lava lamps. And join Oxford Festival of the Arts for more arts and crafts activities. There will also be curiosity trails, a a soft-play safari reading corner for the really little ones, and a talk from sound artist Renzo Spiteri about his recent exploration of Scotland's Shetland Islands.

It’s all free, and there’s no need to book! Don’t miss this exciting family fun day and your chance to get hands-on with the science behind theatre.

Recommended for ages 5-10, but fun for all the family.
