A - There are large (NCP) car parks in Gloucester Green, Worcester Street and the Westgate Shopping Centre. However, it is advisable to use the Park and Ride service. For more information, see the links below. Q - Will the Park and Ride still be running after the show? A - Usually, most buses run until 11pm.

Auditorium

The auditorium is open thirty minutes before the performance. We do have limited space in the foyer, if you have difficulty standing please ask one of the Front of House staff for assistance. Q - What are the opening times of the Box Office at Oxford Playhouse? A - Opening Times:

NO SHOW - 10:00am-6:00pm
WITH SHOW - 10:00am until half an hour after the show begins with phones closing at the performance start time.
Q - What time should I pick my tickets up from the Box Office? A - Preferably, 20-30 minutes before the performance begins. Q - How can I choose which seats I want when I book online? A - For all performances in the Oxford Playhouse auditorium, individual seats are selected when booking via the internet service. Your seats are selected from an interactive seating plan. Q - Is there a dress code? A - No. Q - Will there be an interval? A - 9/10 times, yes there is an interval. However, please check on the week of the performance at the box office - 01865 305305. Q - How long is the show? A - The approximate finish time of each individual performance is displayed at the Box Office prior to the performance. Should you require the running time before you arrive, please contact the Box Office on 01865 305305. Q - Is there a booking fee when booking tickets over the phone? A - No. There are no booking fees for events at the Oxford Playhouse. Only an optional 50p charge for postage. Q - Do you sell Theatre Tokens? A - Yes. Theatre Tokens are available in denominations of £50/ £20 / £10 / £5 & £1. The Theatre Tokens are valid at all West End Venues and most large regional theatres including Oxford Playhouse. Q - Can I bring my baby to the theatre? A - Babies aged 18 months and under are not permitted in the auditorium, with the exception of the Christmas Show when babies will need a free baby ticket.
Young Children aged 18 months+ can get a £2 discount on tickets.

THEATRE INFORMATION (BAR & ETIQUETTE) Q - What are the opening times of the Foyer Bar at The Oxford Playhouse? A - Opening Times:

The Playhouse bar is open Monday - Friday 10am - 11pm (6pm on non-performance days). The bar opens at 12pm on Saturdays.

Q - Do you serve food? A - Foyer Bar Menu - Fully Licensed Bar

From midday SANDWICHES are available. A wide selection of freshly prepared sandwiches, including a choice of vegetarian options.

A wide selection of Teas, Coffees, Snacks, Crisps, Chocolate, Cakes, Muffins, Cookies & Shortbreads are also available on sale all day and in the evening.

Ordering Ice Creams

If you are bringing a party of ten or more to any performance, you can pre-order ice creams and they will be brought to your seat. If you would like to make use of this facility please contact the Front of House Office on 01865 305351 and ask to speak to the Front of House Assistant. Ice Creams are £1.60 each and a cheque should be sent to the Playhouse in advance made payable to the Oxford Playhouse Trust.
Interval Drinks

Drinks can be ordered for the interval of a performance prior to the performance at either the Stalls or Circle Bar.
Drinks can be taken in to the auditorium as long as they are in a plastic cup which can be provided by the Bar Staff or the Ushers
Q - When and where can I smoke? A - See smoking regulations below:

Smoking Regulations

In accordance with legistlation,the Playhouse employs a strict No Smoking policy.

Q - Do you sell cigarettes? A - No
Q - When do the auditorium doors open? A - The auditorium doors open 30 minutes before the start of a performance. Q - Will I be allowed in if I arrive late? A - Latecomers may not be admitted until a suitable point in the performance (This may be the interval). A synopsis and a script may be available. Q - Can I pre-order interval drinks? A - Yes. At either the Foyer Bar or the Circle Bar. Q - Can we film or record the shows? A - No. The use of all PHOTOGRAPHIC & RECORDING equipment (including mobiles) is strictly prohibited. Q - Can I use my mobile phone in the theatre? A - No. Please remember to turn off ALL MOBILE PHONES, PAGERS & WATCH ALARMS before entering the auditorium.

Toddler Booster Cushions

We have a limited supply of toddler booster cushions for very small children who attend family shows. These are for children who cannot see the stage without some help. Only one booster cushion is allowed per child. The cushions are allocated on a first come first serve basis and there is a height restriction (roughly under 4's). If your child is taller than the height restriction we will take a note of your seat number and will bring any left over cushions to you. Please ask a member of Front of House staff half an hour before the performance start time to receive a cushion.

However, opportunities for producing are limited at the Playhouse, so you may be better off sending it to a producing theatre eg West Yorkshire Playhouse, The Royal Court, Soho Theatre.
Q - Would you be interested in taking my show? A - We are happy to look at submissions for professional touring work. Productions must be suitable for the Playhouse (a middle scale venue with 600 seats) and of the highest quality. We programme full weeks of drama, with the occasional split week with dance, music, comedy etc and programme roughly 6-9 months in advance. Please send information to:

Q - I have a pile of old Playhouse Programmes - do you want them? A - We always welcome the opportunity to look at the programmes but as we have archived copies of a lot of shows we don't always need them. Q - Do you provide Work Experience Opportunities? A - Every year the Playhouse is able to offer in the region of 16 work experience GCSE students one-week placements. See our Work Experience page for further details.
