Live Canon's Big Olympic Warm Up
The Olympics are fast approaching and Live Canon is limbering up! Come along for a unique celebration of the games in poetry. Hear a selection of the poems nominated to be engraved on the wall of the Olympic village.
Celebrate cycling, synchronized swimming, diving, sprinting, speed walking (and plenty of sporting disasters). Hear the incredible story of the injured French athlete who lost out in the triple jump but went on to take an Olympic medal for poetry…
The poetry included spans ancient to modern - from Pindar to Tennyson, via Kipling and McNeice and contemporary work by poets including Glyn Maxwell, Wendy Cope, Colette Bryce, Adam Horowitz and David Duncombe.
The evening will be performed by an award-winning cast, including Alex Bartram (fresh from The Factory's Hamlet and Odyssey) and Claire Redcliffe (MEN Best Actress).
