Mark Kermode
and a screening of The Ninth Configuration
Revered film critic, Mark Kermode, returns to the Playhouse with a screening of one his favourite films, the 1980s cult classic The Ninth Configuration.
A Golden Globe-winning film created by The Exorcist author William Peter Blatty, The Ninth Configuration follows mysterious psychiatrist (Stacy Keach) and a lunatic astronaut (Scott Wilson) as they play a game of theological cat and mouse whilst madness rages all around them. Pitched somewhere between Shock Corridor and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, this psycho-thriller meets metaphysical-comedy delivers visions of Christ on the moon and Superman in Dracula's Castle, and climaxes in a bar-room brawl to remember.
Following the film, Mark will give a talk and Q&A session debating every movie fan's favourite subject - what's wrong with movies today - before signing copies of his book The Good, The Bad and The Multiplex.
Venue: Main Stage | Category: Talk | Running Time: : Approx 3 hours
