Susurrus

Susurrus is a play without actors, without a stage and with only one person in the audience – you. It’s part radio play, part soundscape and part stroll in the park. It involves following a path around the lesser-known nooks and crannies of the exquisite University of Oxford’s Botanic Garden, listening to voices and music through headphones.

Like a radio tuning in and out of different wavelengths, you will hear anonymous speakers tell stories about bird dissection, opera and memorial benches. As time goes on, their anecdotes fit together into a mournful and poignant story of love and loss.

Susurrus, devised and directed by David Leddy, currently hailed as one of the most interesting Scottish writers and a brilliant site-specific theatre maker, debuted in 2007 at the Botanic Garden in Glasgow to both critical and audience acclaim.
