OP Booking Fee Information

Like many fields of life, the arts has been hit hard by the recent spending review, and Oxford Playhouse has received a substantial cut in its funding from central government, coupled with a reduction in local funding and the impact of the rise in VAT. As a result we will be introducing a £1 booking fee on tickets purchased (whether in person at our Ticket Office, or by phone or online) for Oxford Playhouse from 1st April 2011.

This decision is not one that we have taken lightly, but Oxford Playhouse needs to find ways to replace this lost funding, in order to continue to present the quality of shows you currently enjoy, to support artists and to undertake a wide range of learning and community activities. We are also introducing a range of behind the scenes measures to reduce our costs and increase our earned income.

This small booking fee is instead of an annual ticket price increase. This is because a large percentage of any ticket price increase would be passed directly to the producer of the show where as a booking fee is wholly retained by the Playhouse for its charitable purposes. Ticket prices will, for the most part, be frozen for 2011.

The booking fee will not apply to tickets with a full price value of less than £10 or to tickets booked for Family Shows, Group and School bookers (10+), Enjoy! tickets, Burton Taylor Studio shows or tickets sold through Tickets Oxford agency.

We continue to offer a wide range of discounted and affordable tickets wherever possible. Please do ask for more information and we will help you to get the best value from your local theatre.
